First things first … Hello and thank you! Welcome to the very first issue of our newsletter. Whether you’ve already purchased a bag of coffee, are thinking about it, or are simply curious about who we are and what we stand for — you are welcome here. We appreciate you, and we’re glad you found us. Why We Started Grounds for Impeachment Coffee This project began during the first Trump administration, in response to what started as an assault on our shared values and has now escalated into an all-out attack on our democracy. For four years, we watched and waited — hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. We were busy living our lives as husbands, dads, sons, grandfathers, and friends, believing that maybe, just maybe, the storm had passed. Then came January 20, 2025. On Inauguration Day, we watched in horror as the country we’ve always called home — the one we believed in, fought for, and loved — was thrown into the greatest danger it has faced since the Civil War. In that moment, we knew: We couldn’t just sit back and watch. We started with something simple: A cup of therapy and a damn good cup of coffee — something to ground us as we tried to find a moment of peace while we decide how the hell we’re going to get through the coming storm Where Are We Now? How did we get here? We may not be historians, but we do know one thing: We let a skilled, deeply malevolent carnival clown fool too many of our fellow citizens. The hard truth? We don’t need him. We never did. And he has never, for a single second, cared about us — only himself. And because we’ve all allowed this to happen we are now faced with an enormous historic dilemma. It is certainly true that our government, the way we do government, is imperfect. Its critics ... left, center and right are correct about that. The Founders did not think they had built a perfect nation. But they did believe they left us the tools, if we used them wisely, to gradually build a ”more perfect union” ... if we wanted to and could keep it. But those in charge now, those wielding the wrecking ball, seem to think that if they “move fast and break things” all will be well and the broken pieces will somehow magically become a country we still recognize. They won’t. A government that is efficiently unjust is not better than one that is inefficiently just. And unless we can rebuild trust — among those who have been fooled and those who feel betrayed — it will be too late. Why Coffee? We’re not political analysts. We’re not policymakers. We’re not Inside the Beltway journalists. We’re citizens who couldn’t live with ourselves if we did nothing. So we started Grounds for Impeachment Coffee. We launched with a single product: Resistance Blend, a bold medium roast that quickly became a favorite among friends. Almost immediately, we heard the call for something darker and stronger — so we created Opposition Blend, a rich French roast that stands firm in defiance. (And for those of you asking about ground coffee and new blends — including decaf — we hear you! Stay tuned.) To our surprise, we weren’t alone. It turns out there are a lot of people out there who need their own cup of therapy to get through the day. We’re here to help. What’s Next? Thank you for being part of this with us. Stay engaged. Don’t give up hope. Resistance isn’t just necessary — it can be joyful and empowering. The late, great Congressman John Lewis urged us to “make good trouble.” Let’s do just that.
